The tormented heart of a superior being

One of Superman’s greatest adversaries is a being called Doomsday. A prehistoric Kryptonian scientist aimed to create the ultimate warrior, creating Doomsday by accelerating his genetic evolution. Doomsday is physically superior to Superman and cannot die. To create a living superweapon that cannot die, the scientist exposed Doomsday's genetic material to countless suffering and death until his genes learned to overcome all obstacles, including death. Doomsday turned on his creator and killed him, and then he escaped into other worlds. After another alien race managed to defeat Doomsday temporarily, they put him into a casket and shot him into space. The capsule landed on Earth, and the impact burrowed Doomsday deep underground.[4]

The sum of the suffering strengthened his genes but also became the energy in his heart. Through his countless exposures to suffering and death, all he knew was pain, rage, and destruction of life. Thus, Doomsday is a genetically superior being powered by the energy of his tormented heart.
